Welcome to Our
School

Saint Patrick during Catholic Schools week was able to
raise over $800 to assist in the recovery.
I am also forwarding another $100 in coordination with the Malvern
Retreat center in PA. So that
is at least $900 from the PA area for donations to support the school that
I am aware of.
Fire Update
The Fire.
On Saturday January 7, 2012 there was a fire at our school.
We were blessed because it was a weekend and not a school day.
Had the fire occurred during normal school hours there we would
have had to evacuate five classrooms; grades 3-5, Title I, a computer lab
and the upstairs CCD office.
Our God is an awesome God.
God also sent us a few guardian angels!
There were some ladies praying in the Grotto and they saw the smoke
coming out of the CCD office and a classroom.
They ran to tell Father Dalton, who proceeded to go into the
building! Fortunately he did
not open the 3rd grade classroom door, which would have cause
the fire to travel quickly.
Damage.
The fire did cause extensive damage to the entire building.
Due to the extent of the damage we will have to rebuilding the
entire 2nd floor from top to bottom.
There was very little fire fighters were able save.
One classroom is extremely damaged and the classroom to the left
and right of the fire’s origin are damaged as well.
There was excessive smoke in the complete building and the second
floor is unusable. The 3rd
grade classroom was water damaged and needed to be completely gutted.
There are no books, chairs,
boards, or computers. Water damage from fire fighters had to be extracted
and dehumidified. The entire 3rd
grade classroom and teaching materials are lost.
The computer lab had smoke damage and some computers will need to
be replaced. But first we need
a classroom to place them in for student use.
Coping.
Students have been relocated 2 times sharing various rooms and
facilities within the church hall, chapel, meeting room and part time
classrooms. The lower 4 rooms
on the first floor have been refurbished and are in working condition.
Teachers continue to review curriculums and plans in effort to make
this transition smooth and less stressful for students and families. Many
teacher supplies were damaged in each classroom.
Many teachers pay for these supplies out of pocket as it is and the
loss of all these materials make it even more challenging.
Rebuilding.
This is the 50th Anniversary of the school.
With the fire damage the task to rebuild sometimes appears
overwhelming. We continue to
pray, work and move forward in a positive direction.
Family, parish members and friends of St. Bernadette continue to
help us with true commitment and unconditional love.
Donations.
Our needs are great – no donation is too small.
In the weeks and months ahead we thank the donors that have given
and continue to give from their hearts. We appreciate each person’s time,
talents, and gifts. We are
especially grateful to St. Patrick’s School, led by Principal Ric Fly in
PA for reaching out to assist us. Just recently we also received donations
from the Malvern Retreat Center also located in PA.
We will continue to walk you along the path of renewal, as I was
once told by a very wise friend, “inch by inch life’s a cinch. Little
victories lead to a big success.”
God bless you one and all.
The Mission of St. Bernadette Catholic School is to serve the children, to teach Catholic values, and to have as a role model, Jesus Christ - the Master Teacher. Our students are the primary focus of our entire program, and our staff is dedicated to fostering the spiritual, emotional, social and academic success of each student in a safe environment.
Welcome to St. Bernadette School website. This is the place to find pertinent information about our school. We offer information to parents and visitors about the policies and procedures of our school. This site provides current school news and to link parents via e-mail to teachers and staff.
St. Bernadette is a traditional Catholic school grades PK4-8, with an enrollment of about 300 students. Our small size enables us to offer a more personalized environment. We are a true school community.
Our faculty and staff are fully certified and dedicated to providing a nurturing and loving environment for learning. The core courses include religion, language arts, math, science, social studies. The curriculum is enhanced with classes in Spanish, art, library skills, technology, music, and physical education. An extended after school program provides supervision for working parents from 3pm to 6pm. We have various programs and sports after school to round out the educational program.
Parents volunteer many hours each school year. Together with many parishioners, they work tirelessly for the support of the school.
Fr. Brendan Dalton, Pastor is active in all school activities. He leads the weekly children’s liturgies that are prepared by the classes. Father visits classrooms and distributes report cards. We are blessed to have a Pastor that is active and knows his children. We gather together each day to open school with prayer, always remembering Father's words at the close of Mass, “Jesus I love you, Jesus I trust you, Jesus I adore you.”
